Dominican Republic

I traveled with my two sisters (I am the middle child ;)) for a week to the Dominican Republic in September of 2017. It's super rare for the three of us to be together, since we live in different continents, and have been for now the majority of our lives. We're really close, but it's just challenging to coordinate three different schedules. The Dominican Republic was a location we all three could get to quite easily, and we all wanted to go somewhere where we could just relax.

One of the nicest breakfasts

just simple, but so good!

We had booked an amazing house close to the beach, and felt like we dropped into paradise, when unfortunately Hurricane Irma appeared on the scene and forced us to relocate to the south, to Santo Domingo; we wanted to be in the capital because we couldn't gage how severely the island would be impacted. None of us felt like a city vacation and where heartbroken to leave. However, we all three fell in love with the city. A beautiful downtown stemming from the 15th century with little cafes, boutiques, restaurant which we strolled through all day. The food was amazing! Music was in the air everywhere... In the end the Dominican Republic was extremely fortunate to have not been impacted much by the hurricane, very different from the neighboring island Puerto Rico.
